About This Toolkit

This toolkit can be viewed as two kits all in one place:

FIRST, it functions as a WORKSHOP KIT containing downloadable workshop creation resource documents along with other resources like a workshop exercise video and a knowledge testing quiz. The available resources are meant to encourage and support people who want to host their own HIV stigma reduction.

SECOND, it is a kit of HIV AND STIGMA INFORMATION organized into modules:

  1. HIV Knowledge Essentials
  2. Stigma Knowledge Essentials
  3. Attitudinal Approach to Reduce Stigma
  4. Communication Approach to Reduce Stigma
  5. Collaborative Approach to Reduce Stigma

Beyond the aspect of a formal workshop, the kit information could be used as a quick reference guide to support conversations with facts about HIV and other STBBIs. In other words, use the kit for “in-the-moment” or “on-the-spot” dialogue in settings like:

  • Outreach
  • Peer conversations
  • Support groups
  • Harm reduction care delivery
  • And of course, stigma reduction workshops

Navigating the Kit

The main way you can navigate the different kit modules & sections is through the side bar menu. It essentially functions like a table of contents.

Throughout this kit, you will see “EXPLORE MORE” in many of the modules that indicates weblinks to external sources of information and resources related to the subject matter in the modules.

At times you will see these two symbols in the kit that highlights information about the realities, challenges, or consideration through the lenses of BC small urban, rural and remote (SURR) areas and people who use drugs (PWUD).

We would like to sincerely thank the advisory committee members who live and do harm reduction work in BC SURR areas. Through a series of consultation meetings, the committee provided input and guidance to inform the toolkit.
